* Αναδρομικά ζητούν 850 πρώην βουλευτές
* Περίπου 850 συνταξιούχοι βουλευτές ζητούν να λάβουν αναδρομικές αυξήσεις, στη βάση της αντίστοιχης ρύθμισης που έχει γίνει για τους δικαστές, όπως γνωστοποίησε η Αντιπρόεδρος του Ελεγκτικού Συνεδρίου.- Και ρωτώ στη γλώσσα τους ...άγνωστους ανθρώπους ...Χρειάζοντε ή δεν χρειάζοντε βρεγμένη σανίδα ...για να μη πώ κρεμάλα ;???
** Αίσθηση προκάλεσε η αναφορά, στην Επιτροπή Θεσμών της Βουλής, της αντιπροέδρου του Β΄ τμήματος του Ελεγκτικού Συνεδρίου, Φλωρεντίας Καλδή, ότι 800 με 850 συνταξιούχοι βουλευτές έχουν προσφύγει στη δικαιοσύνη διεκδικώντας να ισχύσει και για αυτούς η ρύθμιση για τα αναδρομικά των δικαστικών, για το χρονικό διάστημα 2003-2007.
* Όπως διευκρίνισε η κ. Καλδή τα αναδρομικά αυτά, που εκτιμάται ότι αντιστοιχούν περίπου σε 250.000 ευρώ για καθένα από τους πρώην βουλευτές, διεκδικούν τρεις κατηγορίες συνταξιούχων βουλευτών:
* Η πρώτη είναι, όπως είπε, μια μερίδα πρώην βουλευτών που ζητούν με προσφυγές να ισχύσει η ρύθμιση που ισχύει για τους δικαστές για την περίοδο 2003-2007. Μια δεύτερη κατηγορία βουλευτών που δεν εντάχθηκε τότε στη ρύθμιση για τα αναδρομικά και ζήτησαν με μεταγενέστερες προσφυγές στη δικαιοσύνη όλες τις προσαυξήσεις που δεν πήραν λόγω αυξήσεων που εδόθησαν σε δικαστικούς. Ενώ υπάρχει και μια τρίτη κατηγορία που με αγωγές ζητά αναδρομικά για τις μεταγενέστερες αυξήσεις που έλαβαν οι δικαστικοί από το 2008 και μετά.
* Υπενθυμίζεται ότι με βάση το Ζ΄Ψήφισμα, η βουλευτική αποζημίωση είναι ίση με τις αποδοχές των προέδρων των ανωτάτων δικαστηρίων, κάτι, ωστόσο, που δεν εφαρμόζεται τα τελευταία χρόνια, κατά το οποίο "πάγωσαν" οι αυξήσεις για τους εν ενεργεία βουλευτές και δεν αναπροσαρμόστηκαν οι αποδοχές ανάλογα με τις αυξήσεις που δόθηκαν -και αναδρομικώς- στους δικαστικώς.
* Το "πάγωμα" επηρέασε και το ύψος των συντάξεων των παλαιών βουλευτών που συνδέεται με την βουλευτική αποζημίωση, αλλά, καθώς οι συνταξιούχοι βουλευτές δεν δεσμεύονται από τις αποφάσεις της Βουλής, προσέφυγαν, όπως και κατά το παρελθόν, στο Ελεγκτικό Συνέδριο, απαιτώντας να τους χορηγηθεί αύξηση και μάλιστα αναδρομικά.
* Να σημειωθεί ότι το θέμα των αναδρομικών είχε τεθεί και στην προηγούμενη Βουλή, επί προεδρίας Δημήτρη Σιούφα και είχε ληφθεί απόφαση να μην καταβληθούν αυτά τα αναδρομικά στους εν ενεργεία βουλευτές. Τη συγκεκριμένη απόφαση υπενθύμισε ο πρώην πρόεδρος της Βουλής Απ. Κακλαμάνης, σημειώνοντας ότι δεν πρέπει να υπάρξει συνειρμός σε βάρος του Κοινοβουλίου, από ενέργειες και διεκδικήσεις πρώην μελών του.
* Η κ. Καλδή, απαντώντας σε σχετικές ερωτήσεις βουλευτών, επιβεβαίωσε ότι το θέμα είναι σε εκκρεμότητα και ότι έχουν βγει ήδη δύο αποφάσεις, η μία κατόπιν προσφυγής του πρώην προέδρου της Ένωσης τέως Βουλευτών Άγγελου Αγγελούση, ενώ η άλλη είναι ακόμη παλιότερη.
* Σημειώνεται ότι από τη στιγμή που δικαιωθεί έστω και ένας συνταξιούχος βουλευτής που έχει προσφύγει στη Δικαιοσύνη, τότε θα ανοίξει ο δρόμος για να διεκδικήσουν αυξήσεις πέρα από τους συνταξιούχους, και οι εν ενεργεία βουλευτές εφόσον το επιθυμούν.
* Ωστόσο, ο Πρόεδρος της Βουλής, Φίλιππος Πετσάλνικος έχει δεσμευτεί εκ μέρους των «300» ότι δεν πρόκειται να ζητήσουν οποιαδήποτε αύξηση.
**Αυξήθηκε η ραδιενέργεια στη θάλασσα κοντά στη Φουκουσίμα
* Δεκαπέντε χιλιόμετρα ανοικτά του πυρηνικού εργοστασίου της Φουκουσίμα έχει αυξηθεί το επίπεδο της ραδιενέργειας, σύμφωνα με τη διαχειρίστρια εταιρία Tepco. Τα δείγματα περιείχαν 1.400 μπεκερέλ καισίου 137 ανά χιλιόγραμμο, σύμφωνα με την εταιρία.
** Διχασμός για τη δημοσίευση της φωτογραφίας του Μπιν Λάντεν
* Αντιστάθηκε μολονότι δεν οπλοφορούσε ο Μπιν Λάντεν την ώρα που οι άνδρες των αμερικάνικων ειδικών δυνάμεων εισέβαλαν στο σπίτι του. Ωστόσο, η αμηχανία και η έλλειψη συνεννόησης συνεχίζονται στις τάξεις των αμερικανών αξιωματούχων.
** Σε ύψιστη επιφυλακή η Ιταλία
* Πηγές της ιταλικής αστυνομίας επισημαίνουν ότι «η επιφυλακή είναι ύψιστη, για να αποτραπούν τρομοκρατικές ενέργειες». Φοβούνται αντίποινα για τον θάνατο του Οσάμα Μπιν Λάντεν.
**Μικρή συμμετοχή στην ΑΜΚ του Παναθηναϊκού
* Απίθανο μοιάζει να συγκεντρωθούν στην ΠΑΕ Παναθηναϊκός τα 7 εκατ. ευρώ για την αύξηση μετοχικού κεφαλαίου, τα οποία τέθηκαν ως στόχο στο πρόσφατο Δ.Σ.. Η προθεσμία εκπνέει την Παρασκευή 6 Μαΐου και μόλις τρεις μέτοχοι αναμένεται να βάλουν χρήματα.
* Σύμφωνα με την εφημερίδα «Sportday», ο Παύλος Γιαννακόπουλος θα βάλει 800.000 ευρώ, ποσό που του αναλογεί, ενώ 315.000 θα βάλει ο Γιάννη Βαρδινογιάννης και 250.000 ευρώ ο Αδαμάντιος Πολέμης. Στο σύνολο αναμένεται να συγκεντρωθούν 1.365.000 ευρώ, ποσό ιδιαίτερα μικρό.
** «Ψάχνεται» με Αμπντούν ο Παναθηναϊκός
* «Σφήνα» για την απόκτηση του Τζαμέλ Αμπντούν έχει μπει ο Παναθηναϊκός. Για τον παίκτη έχει εκδηλώσει έντονο ενδιαφέρον ο Ολυμπιακός, ωστόσο οι «πράσινοι» κινούνται για την απόκτησή του.
* Πάντως, το 1,5 εκατ. ευρώ που αξιώνει η Καβάλα για τον παραχωρήσει δεν φαίνεται να είναι άμεσα διαθέσιμο και για αυτό τον λόγο θα προσφέρει έμψυχα ανταλλάγματα και παίκτες με τη μορφή δανεισμού.
* Αυτοί που παραχωρούνται από τους «πράσινους» είναι οι Μελίσσης, Μουν, Μπίαρσμιρ, Δημούτσος, Ιωαννίδης και Πλεσί.
**Στον αέρα τα πλέι οφ του ποδοσφαίρου
* Μετά τα επεισόδια στον τελικό του Κυπέλλου Ελλάδας, ανάμεσα στους οπαδούς της ΑΕΚ, της αστυνομίας και του Ατρόμητου, αλλά και την κατακραυγή της κοινής γνώμης για τα μέτρα της Πολιτείας, τα οποία εξαγγέλθηκαν για πολλοστή φορά, χωρίς ωστόσο να αλλάξει κάτι, σήμερα το μεσημέρι πραγματοποιήθηκε κάτω από άκρα μυστικότητα, έκτακτη σύσκεψη της αθλητικής ηγεσίας της χώρας.
* Στη σύσκεψη συμμετείχαν ο υπουργός Πολιτισμού, Παύλος Γερουλάνος, ο υφυπουργός Πολιτισμού, αρμόδιος για θέματα αθλητισμού, Γιώργος Νικητιάδης και ο γ.γ. Αθλητισμού, Πάνος Μπιτσαξής.
* Θέμα συζήτησης ήταν η αναβολή ή ακόμα και η ματαίωση του μίνι πρωταθλήματος, αφού υπάρχει ο φόβος για νέα επεισόδια.
* H αθλητική ηγεσία της χώρας φρονεί ότι η ΕΠΟ και η Σούπερ Λίγκα δεν έχουν κάνει τίποτα για την καταπολέμηση της βίας, κι έτσι αποφάσισαν να πάρουν την κατάσταση στα χέρια τους, βάζοντας στο τραπέζι το ενδεχόμενο αναβολής της διεξαγωγής των πλέι οφ
* Να σημειωθεί ότι στα πλέι οφ συμμετέχουν ο Παναθηναϊκός η ΑΕΚ ο ΠΑΟΚ και ο Ολυμπιακός Βόλου και διεκδικούν την πρώτη θέση που οδηγεί στα προκριματικά του Champions League της ερχόμενης αγωνιστικής περιόδου.
* Bάσει προγράμματος, τα πλέι οφ επρόκειτο να ξεκινήσουν αυτήν την Κυριακή 8 Μαΐου και το ζήτημα είναι ότι τόσο η ΕΠΟ όσο και η Σούπερ Λίγκα δεν έχουν κάνει τίποτα για την καταπολέμηση της βίας.
** Και δεύτερη σύσκεψη...
* Αξίζει πάντως να σημειωθεί ότι μετά την ολοκλήρωση της συνάντησης ξεκίνησε και δεύτερη σύσκεψη μεταξύ του υφυπουργού Πολιτισμού, αρμόδιου για θέματα αθλητισμού Γιώργου Νικητιάδη και του γ.γ. Αθλητισμού, Πάνου Μπιτσαξή.-
** Άλλα Αθλητικά της Ημέρας 2ος αγώνας στα ημιτελικά του Ευρωπαϊκού Τσάμπιονς Λίγκ :
* Μάντσεστερ Γιουναϊτεντ - Σάλκε 4-1 , (2-1).- Στον πρώτο αγώνα η Μαντζεστερ Γιουν. είχε κερδίσει 2-0 .-
** Χασίς θερμοκηπίου, "ψημένο" και "πλυμένο"
* ΕΚΡΥΒΕ ΣΤΟ ΣΠΙΤΙ ΤΟΥ, ΣΕ ΑΠΟΣΤΑΣΗ ΑΝΑΠΝΟΗΣ ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΑΣΤΥΝΟΜΙΑ
* Ούτε 500 μέτρα σε ευθεία γραμμή δεν απέχει η Αστυνομική Διεύθυνση Μεσσηνίας από το σημείο στο οποίο 55χρονος οικοδόμος, πατέρας 6 παιδιών, στην περιοχή Γουλιμίδες στην Καλαμάτα, έκρυβε 6.151 γραμμάρια αποξηραμένης κάνναβης, ενώ καλλιεργούσε σε θερμοκήπιο 5 δενδρύλλια χασίς.
* Μετά από πληροφορία που είχε το Τμήμα Δίωξης Ναρκωτικών, χθες το πρωί, παρουσία δικαστικού λειτουργού, οι αστυνομικοί πήγαν στην περιοχή Γουλιμίδες όπου βρισκόταν η κατοικία του 55χρονου. Στον περιφραγμένο χώρο του σπιτιού υπήρχε θερμοκήπιο, όπου ανάμεσα σε συμβατικές καλλιέργειες οι αστυνομικοί βρήκαν και εκρίζωσαν 5 δενδρύλλια χασίς (ύψους από 1-1,5 μέτρα).
**Συντονισμός και οργανωτικότητα......αναγκαίοι όροι για την τοπική ανάπτυξη
* Στη δίνη της οικονομικής κρίσης, που ακόμα δεν έχει φθάσει στο μέγιστο βάθος της, ψάχνομε με αγωνία για λύσεις εξόδου. Οι περισσότεροι συμφωνούν ότι η λύση βρίσκεται σε μια πετυχημένη αναπτυξιακή πολιτική, χωρίς όμως να προσδιορίζεται το περιεχόμενό της. Συμφωνώντας στην προτεινόμενη κατεύθυνση, επιχειρώ στη συνέχεια να διατυπώσω σε αδρές γραμμές ένα περίγραμμα στοιχείων αναπτυξιακής πολιτικής για την περιοχή μας, που συνδυάζεται με τα φυσικά χαρακτηριστικά της.
** "Το άνθος της ζωής"
* Γνωριμία με το βουβαλίσιο γάλα
* Το βουβαλίσιο γάλα και τα προϊόντα του μας καλεί να γνωρίσουμε αυτό το Σάββατο το κατάστημα βιολογικών προϊόντων «Το άνθος της ζωής», στο κτήριο του ΑΣΟ, στο λιμάνι της Καλαμάτας. Εκτός από γάλα, γιαούρτι, τυρί, βούτυρο και αριάνι (ξινόγαλο), οι επισκέπτες θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να δοκιμάσουν και το γλύκισμα καζάν ντιπί, από γνήσια πολίτικη συνταγή, μόνο με βουβαλίσιο γάλα και βιολογικά υλικά.
**Δήμος Μεσσήνης
Ενίσχυση Δημοτικής Αστυνομίας με τρεις άνδρες
* Με τρεις επιπλέον δημοτικούς αστυνομικούς ενισχύθηκε από προχθές η Δημοτική Αστυνομία Μεσσήνης και, σύμφωνα με σχετική ανακοίνωση του Δήμου Μεσσήνης, τα προβλήματα της καθημερινότητας τόσο στη Μεσσήνη όσο και στην περιφέρεια θα αντιμετωπίζονται με μεγαλύτερη αποτελεσματικότητα.
* Ιδιαίτερη βαρύτητα θα δοθεί στην τήρηση των διατάξεων για την κυκλοφορία των πεζών, τη στάση και τη στάθμευση των οχημάτων, καθώς και στην εφαρμογή των διατάξεων για την κυκλοφορία τροχοφόρων σε πεζόδρομους, πλατείες και πεζοδρόμια, στον έλεγχο για την τήρηση των διατάξεων για το υπαίθριο εμπόριο και τις λαϊκές αγορές και την τήρηση της καθαριότητας σε κοινόχρηστους υπαίθριους χώρους.
** Πύλος
* Κατέπλευσε κρουαζιερόπλοιο με 811 επιβάτες
* Το πρώτο κρουαζιερόπλοιο για το 2011, από τα είκοσι και πλέον που θα επισκεφτούν φέτος το λιμάνι της Πύλου, κατέπλευσε χθες, με 811 επιβάτες διαφόρων εθνικοτήτων, οι οποίοι επισκέφτηκαν το μουσείο της Χώρας, το Κάστρο Πύλου και Μεθώνης, καθώς και το ανάκτορο του βασιλιά Νέστορα.
* Ο δήμαρχος και η Δημοτική Αρχή τούς καλωσόρισαν στην προβλήτα του λιμανιού και τους ευχήθηκαν καλή διαμονή.
* Η ανατροπή στο ηλεκτρονικό φακέλωμα
* Η ιστορία του facebook είναι πάνω - κάτω γνωστή. Ξεκίνησε το 2004 από ένα φοιτητή του Harvard, τον Μαρκ Ζάκερμπεργκ, γεννημένο μόλις το 1984, με σκοπό την επικοινωνία μεταξύ των φοιτητών του πανεπιστημίου, για να καταφέρει, τελικά, στις 12 Ιουλίου 2010, να ξεπεράσει τα 500 εκατομμύρια χρήστες!
* Δεν είναι τυχαίο, άλλωστε, που το περιοδικό Time τον ανέδειξε ως πρόσωπο της χρονιάς για το 2010 και πλέον είναι δισεκατομμυριούχος.
**Καλαμάτα
* Πρόσληψη εργατών πυροπροστασίας
* Την πρόσληψη εργατών πυροπροστασίας, δίμηνης διάρκειας, θα συζητήσει το Δημοτικό Συμβούλιο Καλαμάτας στην αυριανή του συνεδρίαση. Όπως αναφέρεται στην εισήγηση του θέματος, σύμφωνα με σχετικό άρθρο του Ν. 3013/2002 περί πολιτικής προστασίας, οι ΟΤΑ μεταξύ άλλων έχουν την αρμοδιότητα να συντονίζουν και να επιβλέπουν το έργο της πολιτικής προστασίας για την πρόληψη, ετοιμότητα, αντιμετώπιση και αποκατάσταση των καταστροφών, εφόσον συμβαίνουν εντός των διοικητικών τους ορίων.
** Costa Navarino
* Ανάδειξη της μεσσηνιακής πολιτιστικής παράδοσης
* Μέρος της φιλοσοφίας της Costa Navarino αποτελεί η προώθηση της Μεσσηνίας και η διάδοση της πλούσιας ιστορίας και κληρονομιάς που διαθέτει η περιοχή, στους επισκέπτες της. Όσοι θα βρεθούν στην Costa Navarino αυτή τη νέα σεζόν, θα γνωρίσουν το πρόγραμμα «Αυθεντική Μεσσηνία», μέσα από το οποίο θα έχουν τη δυνατότητα να μάθουν και να συμμετέχουν σε πληθώρα δραστηριοτήτων που βασίζονται στα τοπικά έθιμα και στις παραδόσεις.

** ΠΟΠ Καλαμάτα
*Κατά της επέκτασης τυποποίησης ο Τατούλης, αντίθετα με Μαλαπάνη, Κοζομπόλη
* Όχι στην τυποποίηση εκτός Μεσσηνίας του ελαιολάδου ΠΟΠ Καλαμάτα λέει η Περιφέρεια Πελοποννήσου, ερχόμενη σε πλήρη αντίθεση με την πρόταση της ΕΑΣ, που επιτρέπει τυποποίηση και εκτός ζώνης ΠΟΠ, με την οποία όμως έχει συμφωνήσει και ο αντιπεριφερειάρχης Χρήστος Μαλαπάνης.
* Σε χθεσινή ανακοίνωση της Περιφέρειας, γίνεται λόγος για έλλειψη διαφάνειας και ακατανόητη μυστικοπάθεια που καλύπτει το θέμα της επέκτασης του ΠΟΠ στο νομό, ενώ γνωστοποιείται η συγκρότηση τριμελούς επιτροπής για την προώθηση του ζητήματος.
**Β. Κοζομπόλης
* «Άλλοι ευθύνονται για την εμπορική πολιτική»
** «Η εμπορική πολιτική, η καθημερινή δοσοληψία, οι παραγγελίες, όλα αυτά γίνονται από την υπηρεσία. Υπάρχει συγκεκριμένο οργανόγραμμα. Το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο ελέγχει, δεν αποφασίζει. Ελέγχει τους διευθυντές και, πάνω απ’ όλα, το γενικό διευθυντή και τους κάτω από αυτόν. Όταν, λοιπόν, γίνονται άστοχες πωλήσεις με ευθύνη της υπηρεσίας, η ευθύνη δεν πάει στη Διοίκηση, που δεν έχει υπ’ όψιν της. Εμείς είμαστε αγρότες και ασχολούμαστε με τις δουλειές μας, δεν είμαστε έμμισθοι για να κάνουμε την καθημερινή διαχείριση. Γι’ αυτό πληρώνουμε τους διευθυντές, για να διασφαλίζουν τα συμφέροντα της εταιρείας, δηλαδή της Ένωσης».
** ΥΠΟΙΚ: "Οχι" σε αναδρομική αναπροσαρμογή της βουλευτικής σύνταξης
* "Το αίτημα αναδρομικής αναπροσαρμογής βουλευτικής σύνταξης ή αποζημίωσης προσβάλλει το κοινό αίσθημα δικαίου, ιδιαίτερα στην παρούσα δημοσιονομική συγκυρία", υπογραμμίζει ο Υπουργός Οικονομικών Γιώργος Παπακωνσταντίνου σχολιάζοντας τα δημοσιεύματα για τις διεκδικήσεις "αναδρομικών αποδοχών" από τέως βουλευτές.
* "Το Υπουργείο Οικονομικών δεν προτίθεται να ικανοποιήσει οποιαδήποτε παρόμοια απαίτηση και θα προβεί σε κάθε απαραίτητη ενέργεια προς αυτή την κατεύθυνση", δηλώνει ο υπουργός Οικονομικών.
**«Κόκκινη απειλή» στον Θερμαϊκό
* Αποκρουστική είναι η εικόνα που παρουσιάζει τις τελευταίες μέρες ο Θερμαϊκός Κόλπος, καθώς έκανε την εμφάνισή της η «ερυθρά παλίρροια».
* Πρόκειται για ένα φαινόμενο που κάνει την εμφάνισή του όλο και συχνότερα τα τελευταία χρόνια, και σύμφωνα με τους επιστήμονες τα αίτιά του είναι ανθρωπογενή.
* Τα αστικά λύματα και τα λιπάσματα που καταλήγουν ακόμη και επεξεργασμένα στη θάλασσα, σε συνδυασμό με τη ζέστη και την ηλιοφάνεια, δημιουργούν την «κόκκινη απειλή», η οποία είναι επικίνδυνη για τις μυδοκαλλιέργειες και τα ψάρια.
* Σύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα της εφημερίδας Ελευθεροτυπία, το φαινόμενο στηρίζεται σε τρεις κυρίαρχους οργανισμούς, τους Νοκτιλούλα, Προροσέντρουμ και Ντινοφίσις, που παρατηρούνται μόνιμα στον Θερμαϊκό από το 1988.

Hedegaard points out that if we continue to use our resources like we do now, we are exhausting the planet's reserves at an increasingly rapid pace. Every day 24.000 football fields of forests are being burned or trapped. This affects our climate in terms of less precipitation. According to the United Nations, our water supply will satisfy only 60% of the world demand in 20 years. And the last example: Today's fishing fleets harvest nearly seven times the catch from 1950; 80% of our fish stocks are fully or even over-exploited with no further room for expansion.

Hedegaard notes that we live very different life styles in different parts of the world. Per capita, we in Europe, every year emit around 10 tonnes of greenhouse gases and use twice as much energy as the global average. But the European emissions are decreasing. The per capita emission in the US is 19 tonnes. While in China it is 6 tonnes per year and steeply increasing.
Further more, as the world's population is growing, more than a billion new people will enter middle class by 2050. If they adopt the same consumption patterns as their fellows from industrialised countries, the global use of resources will be multiplied by 15. Or, put in another way: we would need at least two and a half planets to accommodate all these needs.
There are plenty of arguments indicating that the real threat is not global warming itself. The real threat comes when kleptocrats start playing with the climate and with all of us. Environmentalism and global warming alarmism ask for restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions, which would substantially increase the costs of energy. This would be devastating, because cheap energy is the source of much of our prosperity.
Hedegaard points out nearly half of all global consumers now live in developing countries. This means that the traditional concept of rich and poor no longer applies to countries. To a much higher extent it applies to groups within countries. We definitely need a global approach to sustainable consumption. Some stupid socialist climate scientists are warning that by the end of this century we are heading for a global temperature increase of most likely 4°C and in the worst case even more than 6°C. This would lead to an increasing number of severe floods, droughts, forest fires, storms – in short, violent weather, increasing sea levels, more unpredictability.
Hedegaard points out more and more extreme weather events already now. Think about the extreme floodings in Pakistan and Brazil last year; and the dramatic flooding in Australia at the beginning of this year. We also saw examples of other extremes like the forest fires in Russia, a once in a hundred years drought in the Amazon and the worst drought since decades in parts of China and India.
Hedegaard declares the consequences of these dramatic events are not only felt in the region itself, but by consumers all over the world, as food prices are soaring. When rice harvests fail, or when Russia, due to the heat wave and forest fires, stops her export of wheat. Globally, we pay almost 40% more for our food today compared to last year.

Still, the appropriate legislation is not in place, and also there is no generally accepted Internet code of conduct. Hende highlights that a particular attack could even be aimed at strategic weapon systems and military equipment, the acquisition of relevant data and descriptions, so defence is also important in this field.
Hende underlines that people should realise cyberspace as a theatre of war, just as much as land, water or air. As specific examples from recent years, he mentions the concerted cyber attack against Estonia four years ago and the actions paralysing the government portals of Georgia in its 2008 war with Russia. According to Hende, efficient defence against similar threats, not only calls for appropriate technical developments and highly qualified professionals, but also for extensive cooperation.
Hende urges for a regular exchange of knowledge and experiences, both within the European Union and in transatlantic relations. As he explains, measures are also required to appropriately prevent, detect and fend-off cyber attacks, as is specified in the newly accepted strategic concept of NATO. He highlights that the supreme leadership of the military alliance will include Gabor Iklody, delegated by Hungary, as Assistant Secretary General responsible for leading the unit of novel security challenges, such as cyberspace.

A19 points out free speech, media and information flows increasingly ignore and elude physical frontiers or national boundaries. Many governments, especially Greece, fearful of this lack of control, are trying hard to restore or fortify barriers to trace, block, target and censor those who champion the truth.
Freedom of speech means freedom from interference, suppression or punitive action by the government, and nothing else. It does not mean the right to demand the financial support or the material means to express your views at the expense of other men who may not wish to support you. Freedom of speech includes the freedom not to agree, not to listen and not to support one's own antagonists. A right does not include the material implementation of that right by other men; it includes only the freedom to earn that implementation by one's own effort. Private citizens cannot use physical force or coercion; they cannot censor or suppress anyone's views or publications. Only the government can do so. And censorship is a concept that pertains only to governmental action.
A19 notes that a series of revelations have sent shockwaves across the world. Photos, reports, articles, messages and videos originating in one place are instantly shared with another. Outrage and embarrassment spread in equal measure, corruption is magnified, people-power amplified, and governments fall.
Wikileaks has revolutionised transnational whistleblowing. Today, people can publish
information in the public interest regardless of where they live, and with minimal
possibility of being traced. Information uploaded in New York can rapidly impact current affairs in countries as far removed as Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria or Norway.
Wikileaks has proven so popular that there are now a number of similar websites,

OpenLeaks, RuLeaks (Russia), TuniLeaks (Tunisia) and TradeLeaks.
Facebook provides a space where people can come together without boundaries or
hierarchies. Ethiopians and Eritreans, Israelis and Palestinians, Azerbaijanis and
Armenians, Indians and Pakistanis, all befriend one another. Ideas are set forth,
beliefs debated and mistruths deconstructed. Causes attract gigantic audiences and
interest groups form to consider, challenge or solve problems. Protests are organised
and revolutions supported.

reporters attacked, detained and killed by many sides to many conflicts.
A19 notes that as physical frontiers decrease and location-based public spaces are sidelined, vast global spaces are rapidly growing. Such spaces, owned by corporations and known as private publics, public commons, or the quasi-public sphere, can be a source of communication and outreach. They can also be the source of new barriers as citizens become consumers or users, and laws previously used to protect, no longer apply. Such corporations have also often reacted over-fastidiously in applying terms and conditions in situations where they risk aggravating authoritarian governments with which they are trying to do business.
Defend the rights of individuals to unrestricted freedom of speech, freedom of the press and the right of individuals to dissent from government itself. Oppose any abridgment of the freedom of speech through government censorship, regulation or control of communications media.
